The Leader is responsible for managing the workflow for this regional CPA firm’s clients – a combination of businesses in a variety of industries – namely healthcare, nonprofits, private schools, and professional services. The Leader will oversee transactional and GL accounting activity to ensure accuracy and timely delivery, partnering with clients on strategic development and working with clients to optimize accounting processes and systems. The Leader’s role is to optimize these services to support the partners in the firm so they can easily and quickly access important financial information (history of performance, seasonal cash flow and predictive analysis) and improve advisory and consultative services to their clientele.

The Leader is responsible for maintaining client relationships and mentoring and developing other members of the group from both a technical and a soft skills standpoint. The candidate should be process minded and have experience analyzing accounting reports, demonstrating a bias to action in addressing deficiencies and seeking constant improvement, and be comfortable leading through change. The Leader will be responsible for managing the department’s proposal process, quoting appropriate fees for services and reporting to the shareholder group on the profitability of the Department. The candidate is expected to have strong project management and technology skills and will manage multiple client tasks monthly in addition to administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities

- Responsible for the monthly review of client financial statements in accordance with Tax and GAAP basis for clients in all market divisions
- Drive standardization while developing and providing high value clients and business relationships with specialized reporting as deemed necessary
- Develop and execute market wide analysis reporting in areas that support client financial health, historical trend analysis, cash management opportunities, and divisional decision making
- Provide high value clients and prospective clients with best-in-class service by consistently delivering above expectations and fostering strong relationships
- Effectively handle escalations of client issues through skillful communication, mitigating risk of client termination and solidifying future relationships
- Serve as a business development presence providing accounting presentations for new business prospects, establishing the right expectations but exuding flexibility where needed and possible
- Participate in the onboarding of ‘new client relationships’ acting as the bridge between the transactional task completion and the trust building component through overcommunication and monitoring of transition progress
- Develop and execute training and education for G/L accounting team members to improve client facing skills, including assessing individual associate abilities and interest levels
- Active involvement in client financial statement packages creating a “best-in-class” presentation
- Oversight and involvement in the Corporate billing process for timely receivable collections due from client associations in the market

Requirements

- 5- 10 years of total experience in accounting, including experience in Public accounting
- CPA Licensed
- Strong technology skills including knowledge of data feeds and APIs
- Experience using QuickBooks, Excel, and Word is required; experience in Bill.com, Hubdocs and Fathom is preferred
- Complete knowledge of financial statements
- Complete understanding of the full accounting cycle
- Outstanding client servicing skills
