Watch Out: New Social Security Advisory Telephone Scam
It has come to our attention that our employees and clients have received repeated phone calls from the “Social Security Administration.” Those who received the calls were told that their social security numbers had been suspended due to “suspicious activity.”
According to the Inspector General of Social Security, Gail S. Ennis, these phone calls come through Caller ID with the Social Security Administration (SSA) Office of the Inspector General’s (OIG) Fraud Hotline phone number.
Nisivoccia LLP would like to remind you that the OIG will never contact you from a Fraud Hotline 800 number. If you receive a call, the OIG says not to engage or provide personal information.
Visit the Social Security Administration website for more information or give us a call at (973) 298-8500.
