Nisivoccia Announces Promotions Effective January 2024

We are excited to announce the following promotions effective January 2024. The Nisivoccia team is extremely proud of these individuals for their continued hard work and leadership. Please enjoy the write-ups on each person below and join us in congratulating them.
David Benson, CPA
Director of Tax
David joined Nisivoccia with 14 years of prior tax experience in October 2019. David specializes in providing services to our individual and business tax clients. He holds a Master’s in Taxation from Northeastern University.
In addition to providing traditional tax and accounting services, David listens and learns about the clients as much as he can. He is always responsive to their requests and does his best to make them feel valued as a client.
Brian Gibbons, CPA, RMA, PSA
Manager
Brian began his career at Nisivoccia in 2017, providing accounting, audit, and single audit services to municipalities, counties, school districts, and other various government entities.
Brian likes to be a valued resource to his clients for all types of matters, from accounting, budgeting, capital and debt management, purchasing, as well as federal and state tax-related issues.
Brian Ko, CPA, RMA, PSA
Principal
Brian began his career with Nisivoccia in 2010 as an intern servicing our school board and municipal clients. Brian is a valuable member of the firm’s Quality of Life Committee, where he enjoys planning our annual events and increasing employee engagement. He is also the Treasurer of the Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce.
Brian not only provides his clients with peace of mind during the audit season, but he also enjoys offering some stress relief with humor and a friendly face.
Vicki Kosuda, CPA
Principal
Vicki joined Nisivoccia in October 2022 to lead and expand the Client Accounting Services (CAS) practice within the firm. Vicki came to Nisivoccia with extensive experience in client accounting services, cloud technology, and CFO services. She was also the owner of her own CAS consulting practice.
Under Vicki’s leadership, the CAS practice helps our clients manage their business finances, enabling them to make more informed decisions.
Caitlin Orton, CPA, RMA, PSA
Principal
Caitlin began her career as an intern with Nisivoccia in 2012 and has developed a practice of servicing municipal and school board clients.
In addition to regularly presenting in speaking engagements on the audit process and regulation changes, Caitlin likes to help her clients by focusing on the details so she can be ready to answer any of their questions and help them better understand their finances.
Michelle Shapiro, CPA
Director of Tax
Michelle joined Nisivoccia in 2020, bringing with her a wealth of tax knowledge and expertise, having worked at other firms including Untracht Early and CohnReznick. Her clients include business entities of various segments and high net-worth individuals.
Michelle is the former President and currently a Director of the New Jersey Society of CPAs, Morris/Sussex Chapter, a member of the Morris County Chamber Executive Women in Business Group, and sits on the finance committee of the Mayo Performing Arts Center.
Michelle helps her clients through tax planning strategies and entity selection. Michelle is not only a tax expert, but she is also a sounding board for all business financial questions and decisions for her clients.
Harlene Stevens, CPA
Director of Tax
Harlene will be celebrating 17 years with the firm in February 2024. Harlene specializes in small business and high net-worth clients and leads our dental accounting practice. She is a frequent speaker on tax planning topics.
Harlene advises clients throughout the year, not only by preparing tax returns. By working with clients year-round on effective tax planning strategies, Harlene analyzes each specific situation and tailors the approach and resources to save them money on taxes, which ultimately maximizes their savings.
Harlene has enjoyed seeing Nisivoccia grow from a small firm in Randolph to our offices now with over 100 employees. Harlene also appreciates the support and encouragement along the way to growing the firm and taking new opportunities.
Matt Sylvester
Supervising Senior
Matt joined the firm in our governmental entity group in 2019. He provides audit and accounting services to municipalities, school districts and local authority organizations.
Matt enjoys that everyone works as a team and together, has the expertise among them to answer questions and offer advice when going in for an audit.
